My secret little bay, just around the corner of the Amalfi Coast. With a few of the best restaurants (Michelin) and my favorite little restaurants where they have wobbley chairs and chefs with slippers in the kitchen
Evenings on the beach in Marina del Cantone
While nonna is ‘parked’ with a gelato on a small fishing boat on the beach, to keep an eye on the kids, mom and dad playfully taking a few steps into the water. Grandpa Antonio is stealing the show in his swimming trunks from the year 1965 because he is demonstrating his grandchildren how to take a dip in the sea, this to the amusement of tutta la famiglia.
Scenes from a Rossellini movie
This place is timeless and so incredibly authentic that you believe you’re walking around on a film set of a 1950’s Rossellini movie, It feels timeless and genuine.
Gelati on the beach
On warm summer evenings after dinner, the locals who live higher up the mountain, come down to the pebbled beach to paddle, eat gelati and have some fun at the beach.
My view from Ristorante Maria Grazia
I am on the terras of Restaurant Maria Grazia in the bay of Marina del Cantone, enjoying my delicious seafood and wine with pieces of peach. My view and food is the best in the bay.
An idyllic refuge
Marina del Cantone, is a small sleepy bay with only a few hotels and restaurants all just a few meters from the sea, and popular with Italian families. An idyllic refuge for sea lovers and those who prefer to avoid the bigger tourist places.
Just around the corner from the Amalfi Coast
There are few foreign tourists who know how to find this bay. There is a reason for that,…it’s quit a trip to get here in Marina del Cantone although it’s worth it! First, it’s just around the corner from the Amalfi Coast, so people forget about it. Second, you have to take quit a long, narrow, winding road with numerous curves. I got sick almost every time we drove this road, so we changed chairs and I drove, much better, for me at least!
A hidden treasure a the end of a curvy road
The road leads you along terraces with olive trees and citrus fruits and just when you think that there is no end of the street you will arrive at the local parking located behind the bay. You walk down the little stairs and there is your hidden treasure.
Stay the night
If you even the slightest possibitly to stay here then do it! It will strengthen your La Dolce Vita feeling when you can spend long evenings here on the beach or at the ristorante and encounter the quiet awakening of the beach in the early morning
Good to know!
The water here is incredibly clean and bright! For as far I know at least for the last 10 years the get the Bandiera Blu! The Blue flag in Englisch! It is an official sign of beach recognition, a mark of its quality!
